You may notice that Pharaoh and Cleopatra version 2.1 (GOG) has trouble running on Windows 10.Pharaoh starts with a black screen then switches back to the desktop with the intro music playing in the background. At the end of the intro, the game will try to switch back to the game menu but will fail and switch back again to the desktop.I have been able to successfully get the game to run by first lowering my desktop resolution to 800x600, and running the game in Windows 98/me compatibility. The intro video still doesn't play, but after it's done the window will automatically switch back to the game menu and the game should work.If you want to play in widescreen mode, then you'll want to install the widescreen patch for the Cleopatra version:Install the mod by patching over with the appropriate resolution file, and then in-game choose 1024x768, and it will instead play at the widescreen resolution.This was done on ATI hardware. I hear if you're running nvidia then you need to disable whatever recording software that nvidia drivers use.
