Hi, I just finished Idle Guardians. It's an idle RPG, please check it out!I feel like a lot of these types of games are either too simple or require too much micromanagement.

I tried to find a balance. It's easy to start playing but if you want to really dig into the systems and optimize your progress there are many avenues for that. As you get further into the game more of the mechanics reveal themselves.Game info:.You recruit heroes, battle monsters, get loot. Normal stuff all of these games have. You create your 5 hero team based on the encounters. Bosses and areas have different strengths and weaknesses, using the right setup helps with progression. All heroes stay valuable.
You never recruit 'better' heroes that make your existing heroes obsolete (or have you turn them into some kind of horrible 'material' that other heroes ingest to evolve them into super heroes or something). You continue to upgrade your heroes forever.Multiple prestige systems. I don't want to give all the surprises away or anything so that's all I'll say.Heroes have multiple progression systems. There are 11 different hero classes, each with their own playstyle and abilities. There are guardians that are aligned with different heroes.
They have their own bonuses and abilities as well.Obviously offline progress, endless battling, etc. It's an idle game after all:)Thanks I hope you like it. I'm not about to defend this game in terms of speed but all I see is people saying that you are required to watch ads and I have not watched one.Just curious what reasonable gameplay speed is. Imo it's all relative. Like some games have 10 waves per 1 stage.
Some give prestige currency every stage some are every 10 or 15.If this game were sped up by 10x by default but you got 10x less shards, I don't think anyone would complain about speed because it would feel faster.I think gameplay speed should be measured in time to make progress towards meaningful milestones/early/mid/late game phases not just how it feels. Just curious what reasonable gameplay speed is. Imo it's all relativeGameplay speed can vary. But we are discussing mandatory ads, and ad boost is relative. If not watching ads slows you down by 2x, it's annoying. If you get 1h of progress from watching an ad - the game is broken., at this stage there is no reason to play the game, you can just log in every hour to watch ads instead. And I seriously suspect that this is exactly how some developers see you playing.
And I saw people saying that this is how they are 'playing' and recommend others to play the same way. It's an interesting thing, the feeling of satisfaction in a game like this. If this game didn't have the option to watch an ad for 2x speed would you still feel that it's too slow? I don't think I would, but I haven't made it far enough to judge in my opinion.
But yeah knowing that it's there and every minute spent without it is unoptimal does feel bad.Endless frontier is an amazing game and where I am/was (I pop in from time to time but not a daily game for me anymore) it feels fast. There are many units which make you move faster and skip stages etc. But I started a new account one time and it felt unbearably slow since I didn't have all those boosts.EF also has the watch an ad for 2x speed and in the mid/late game you don't need it because of the priests and stage skipping, but 2-3 years ago when I started I didn't use the ad boost because I didn't know any better.I guess at the end of the day I have to wonder what a better solution would be. Maybe the key is extending the duration of the boost. Because even if it feels mandatory because it feels bad being unoptimal, it is still a boost. What if you only had to watch one ad every 4 hours for 2x speed.
It would be better for me because I wouldn't think about how much I dislike that I have to watch an ad to keep optimal as often, but I think it would feel even more mandatory to watch that ad every time it's available. This is obviously the route a lot of these games are going, watch ad get boost. Someone will find a better way to monetize effectively without putting off the player some day, but for now I don't hate on a game for it.
I think one of the issues is how often ads are available to watch. There are a bunch of games that allow you to watch a few ads and bank muliplied time, to a certain maximum. This seems fine and is not really intrusive in the overall gameplay.
I'm always a fan of the 'you earned x amount while offline- watch an ad to multiply'.I've played a fair number of games, however, where every single upgrade and every single improvement has an option for 'watch ad for x3' and there are numerous powerups that come along every 2 minutes or so that you can use vanilla, or watch an ad to get the powerup multiplied. It makes it feel like declining is leaving something on the table. The problem is that most incremental players are looking to maximize their build/layout, etc for the most progress. If ads are always available it vastly outdoes the normal gameplay mechanics in terms of effectiveness. Those games feel engineered to create just the right amount of frustration to cause you to watch ads- basically a vehicle for getting ads in front of your face, not a game. There's a new android game- sushi bar- and god it is just a vehicle for ads. Check it out if you want a good example of an ad pusher.. Man your description sounds amazing, I'm scared to download it!Will report back with some feedback! So far so good!
I filed my 5 spots and got to the boss at stage 100 who is physical immune. Going to prestige a few times boosting medical heroes and see what's next!I'm looking forward to unlocking all the mechanics. I like that the one portal shows each stage 125, but I really wish the others also included unlock conditions. Also as for party composition, it looks like maybe after heroes reach a certain rank it will cost some premium currency to swap out. I hope this isn't too costly because the 'every hero matters' aspect of the game makes me think I'll want to swap often. It looks like you pick up a free 100 gems every day. Are there other ways to obtain other than $$ and the quests? Quests give a nice steam of them but will inevitably run outLast one for now, offline gains seem very weak. Looks like I progress 1.8 stages per hour offline?
Why so slow?. If you spread out shards evenly there are no reclaim costs. As you put a higher% of your total shards into a single hero reclaim costs go up.You also earn gems from beating new stage and dungeon bosses. Don’t underestimate the quest gems, if you play all the heroes evenly you can complete a lot of quests. I personally have been playing for months and have not run out of gems. I don’t go nuts spending them though.Offline stage progression goes up as you increase your highest stage. There is also a free upgrade that you can choose post-renewal, but you have to unlock that.
I forget what stage that is at the moment. I'm really enjoying this game, but I'm not sure the reclaim cost thing is working the way you describe. I wanted to reset my team, so I did a prestige, used the shards to equalize everyone. But three heroes still cost 10 to reset and the other two were at 0. So I started bumping the other two up to offset whatever was causing the first three to have a higher investment ratio and, oddly, ove of the other two started costing gems to reset, but the other 3 never went down.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Attic crawl space ladder. I thought maybe it was because I wasn't using shards on my retired heroes, which might account for the investment differential, but it turns out you can't give shards to inactive heroes anyway. I love the game so far, but am really confused on a few things like this.
